Boys Varsity Soccer · KING OUTSHOOTS CENTENNIAL BUT DROPS LEAGUE OPENER

April 1, 2021

CORONA:  The boys soccer team kicked off the delayed 2020/21 Big 8 season on Thursday at Corona-Centennial.

The current makeup of the King squad under seasoned head coach Todd Mapes is decidedly young.

“We’re only starting three seniors” Mapes said of the youthful nature of his lineup.

Tobi Odufalu scored King’s only goal of the game, a game in which Centennial would win, 3-1.

Still, Mapes was positive. “I’m encouraged how the team performed tonight” he said.  “It was a huge improvement from out last game” punctuated by the fact that King outshot the Huskies, 12-6.

Indeed, a good sign, especially for a group that is just getting started.
