Girls Varsity Golf · A FORFEIT BY TEMECULA VALLEY NOT A DETERRENT TO KING

March 30, 2021
TEMECULA:  As the boys’ team did on Monday, the girls golf team traveled to Temecula to take on Temecula Valley High School (TV) at the Legends Golf Club.Unlike the boys team, which lost to the Golden Bears, the girls found an incomplete TV squad which would lead to the forfeit.

But the Wolves would not be denied the chance to play, and play on they did.  The squad was led underclassmen Jennifer Gouisikul (So) and Sophia Vargas (Fr) who both shot 4-over par 40’s for 9 holes and pulled King to a score of 224.

Haley Lara (So) and Alysia Obregon (So) posted 44 each.

“I am very happy with the improvements made by all of the girls” said coach Keith Moorman, “but especially Haley and Alysia as their hard work is paying off.”

King is undoubtedly young with a lot of potential.  “These girls are only going to get better as the season progresses” Moorman added.

Jordan Phillips (Sr) and twins Emily and Kendal Vandenburgh (So) round out the team and will fill the 5th and 6th spots on varsity.

While no one ever wants to play against a forfeit, the day was a worthwhile one and sets King up to open league play next week.
