Alec Jones, a former King Track Athlete (’17) and former RCC standout in the throwing events, has been named to the National Alliance of 2-Year  College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) All-Scholar team.
In order to be eligible for this award,  a student-athlete must meet the following criteria; a minimum of a 3.6 GPA with at least 36 semester hours with 24 of them coming from the nominating institution; participation in at least one complete season of their sport; show great athletic success and outstanding qualities of leadership and citizenship.
During his career at ML King High School, Alec served as a team captain;  was the 2017 Most Outstanding Field Event athlete and finished 3rd All time in the discus.
He then moved on to great success at Riverside Community College. His fine 2 year career there was punctuated by an incredible 2019. He was a main contributor to the Tiger’s State Championship team  competing in the Shot put, Discus and Hammer throws. In fact, he was the 2019 State Meet’s Field Athlete of the Meet in winning the Hammer and finishing second in the Discus.
Additionally, he won both of those events in the Orange Empire Conference Championships earning the OEC Field Athlete of the Year.His accomplishments stretched deep into the academic side of things as he carried a near 4.0 GPA and was named the RCC Student of Distinction for the Kinesiology and Athletics Department for 2019.
Jones is now attending and competing at Cal-State Long Beach.
