CORONA: Angela Saldana had to wait about a year before donning the uniform again after an ACL injury sidelined her during last season. Kennedy Hackbarth’s recent injury wasn’t as severe, but enough to keep her out of action, making this the first game of her 2018-19 campaign.
Both girls returned to action on Tuesday at Corona High School and contributing to a solid 3-0 win over the Panthers.
Hackbarth actually started the scoring with the first goal of the game, punching it on off an assist from Kaylee Hauck and Nicole Skaggs.
The half time break held the score there at 1-0 but King came out quickly in the second with a goal from Andi Hanjie from 15 yards out.
Hauck knocked in the final goal from just outside the box.
“The team played inspired defense and held them to just one shot on goal” Coach Dave Smith said after the game. “Excellent work from keepers Carley Quito and Tatum Laskshin.
“It was great to see the return of Angela and Kennedy” said Smith.
“Feels good to be back!” Kennedy added.
Smith added, “I was happy with the play of all of the girls. I was able to get playing time for all 21 girls each half which only makes us stronger as a team.”
King now stands at 7-6-4 on the season.
