TUSTIN:  On Friday, the King Girls Varsity Tennis made history as they advanced to the CIF Division 1 Quarterfinals.

They revved up their engines one more time to dethrone the CIF Division 1, #2 seed. After the girls traveled to Foothill High School in Tustin, they stepped on the courts and slowly but surely picked up enough games to defeat the Knights 10-8, earning entry to the Division 1 Quarterfinals.

At the end of round one, the score was tied at 3-3.  In the next round, the Lady Wolves battled to bring in an additional 4 games, making it a 7-5 match.  Knowing the team must win outright due to the strength of Foothill’s singles and the number of games the Wolves would be short if there would be a tie, King fought hard.

The Knights collected two more wins in singles and King doubles picked up 2 more wins bringing the score to 9-7 with one singles and one doubles match still out. Freshmen, Geetika Sreeram, was neck in neck with her opponent, refusing to lose, she secured a huge victory that brought home the win for King with a score of 10-8!

This was an entire team win as everybody contributed to upset the Knights.

King Tennis moves to the quarterfinals on Monday at Home to take on Fullerton Troy.  Hopefully, another win for the King Tennis history book!
