OXNARD: Not since King High Hall of Fame inductee, Nicole Smith (2005) has a Lady Wolf advanced beyond the 2nd round of the CIF Individual Championships. Morgan Sjoerdsma achieved that feat today when she fired a 76 at a very difficult River Ridge golf course in Oxnard, CA.
She finished tied for 20th.
But that tie did not come without drama. On the last hole, a 15 foot putt stood between her and par, and she drained it, securing her 76 and making the cut to move on to the next round. She’ll play in the 3rd round next week in Pasadena.
“Morgan’s consistent play and her exceptional mental fortitude provided the means to shoot a 76” said Coach Keith Moorman.
The best of the best compete next week in the 3rd round to determine who moves on to State Championship Tournament.
