Girls Varsity Tennis · NO TRICKS, ALL TREATS FOR TENNIS IN CIF ROUND 1

On a breezy, Halloween afternoon, King Tennis got after it and worked hard to defeat the Mater Dei Monarchs, 13-5 in the first Division I, CIF playoff match of 2018.  After being tied 3-3 at the end of the first rotation, the score was dead even as games were counted 23-23.

Singles players Katie Lucius and Geetika Sreeram, led the team with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. Doubles team, Nanee Desar and Jaslyn Gines picked up the solo 6-2 win in doubles.

Round two proved to be a better one for the Lady Wolves with Katie and Geetika picking up two more singles wins with twin scores of 6-1. Nanee and Jaslyn pulled in another doubles win of 6-1, and Hannah Turner with partner Jenny Noh added an additional 6-3 victory for the team.  This resulted in an additional 4 points for the team.

In the the third rotation, everybody decided to get in the winner’s circle with all three singles players, Katie, Geetika, and Samantha Quezada winning 6-0, 6-2, 6-2.   Not to be outdone, doubles partners, Jaslyn and Nanee, Hannah and Jenny, and Rida Syed and Seeta Patel all defeated their opponents 7-5, 6-4, 6-3.  This final rotation saw 6 more points being added to the team total score of 13 to 5 for Mater Dei.

Singles players, Katie Lucius and Geetika Sreeram and the doubles team of Naneeta Desar and Jaslyn Gines all had big 3-0 sweeps for King Tennis.

The Lady Wolves improve their overall record to 22-1 and they move on to the next round of the CIF, Division I competition against the #2 seed at Foothill High School in Santa Ana on Friday.
