JURUPA HILLS: Finishing 7th out of 22 high quality teams is not usually the equivalent of a bad day, but the high finish wasn’t high enough and the girls golf team failed to advance past the CIF Regionals.
“The team hoped to finish in the top three but 7th out of 22 top regional teams is very respectable.” said Coach Moorman.
The silver lining was the play of Morgan Sjoerdsma who, despite a poor start shot a 78 and qualified for the CIF Individual rounds slated for next Thursday.
Hailey Higginbotham, playing with a back injury, played her last round of golf for King.
“She will be missed” said Moorman. “She’ll always will be remembered for her fiery defense of NOT needing to warm up.”
He added with a sense of humor, “But given her back, I think the coach finally won that argument!”
King finished 14-1, and 10-0 in the Big VIII.
