Girls Varsity Golf · GOLF SAYS HELLO AND GOODBYE

RIVERSIDE:  One of the truisms about high school is that it goes by quite quickly.  Freshmen arrive and then (blink) they’re seniors and saying goodbye.

Coach Moorman’s highly successful golf squad had that kind of feeling yesterday as they said goodbye to Morgan Sjoerdsma and Hailey Higginbothom, both of whom played their final round of golf on their home turf, the General Old Golf Course in South Riverside.

Success is always the result of many parts, but the string of successful seasons King has enjoyed is due in no small measure to the two seniors.  Hailey and Morgan will retire with four Big VIII Championships, with the last two seasons undefeated in league matches.

King ended the seniors’  home stand in style by defeating Centennial 214 – 258.  Morgan was a medalist firing a 39.

The girls played well despite poor course conditions. Match play will end Wednesday, when King takes on Santiago.

And just like that, the league season will be over, just in time to say hello to CIF.
