RIVERSIDE:  Thursday was the last BIG VIII league home game for the seniors on the Lady Wolves Volleyball team. This year’s team was proud to celebrate Alexa Ayer, Aria Venzon, Sarayah Duffy, Taylor Edwards, Harmony Johnson, Kaylee Christie, Taylor Orshoff and Samantha Bickett.

It was a wonderful evening for friends, family and teammates to reflect back on all the seniors have given to the Lady Wolves Volleyball program. Special thanks to the King Boosters club for all the hard work they put in to help this night to be a special one.

The Lady Wolves hosted the Centennial Huskies on Senior night. The Lady Wolves knew they would have their hands full after sweeping the Huskies on their home court a few weeks earlier in convincing fashion.

The Huskies came out strong and forced of a slew King errors and miscues. The Lady Wolves fought back to tie the set at 21 but fell short 23-25. The Lady Wolves were not about to go down without a fight on Senior night.

Set 2 the Lady Wolves came out firing on all cylinders as Captain Jaden Grova dished out assist after assist to set a season high of 48 on the night!

Along with all those assists come some outstanding kills as Captains Samantha Bickett (17) and Taylor Orshoff (24), also a season high, blazed a trail to victory in set 25-10.

Set 3 was more of the same form this trio along with senior libero Taylor Edwards scooping up 10 digs as King took set 3 25-14.

Set 4 started out a back and forth affair as the Huskies would not go down easy. Both Bickett and Orshoff balanced out their night with 14 digs each to create some great scoring opportunities for Breone Benoit who tallied 6 kills on the night in very efficient form.  The Lady Wolves sealed the deal 25-22 and are 8-1 in BIG VIII league play.

The victory sets King up for a clash with Santiago that should decide the 2018 league title.  The girls will travel to Santiago on October 9th to take on the Sharks.

The Lady Wolves JV team will try to make their season a perfect one on Tuesday as they won 2-0 tonight remaining undefeated. The Freshmen team was also victorious 2-0 and will fight for a league title as well on Tuesday.
