Girls Varsity Soccer · ANNOUNCING KING’S NEW GIRLS SOCCER COACH

Martin Luther King High School is excited to announce that David Smith will be our new girls soccer coach.  David comes to us with over nine years of coaching experience throughout the Riverside community.  He has coached thousands of soccer players at various levels during these years.

Coach Smith brings with him an exuberance and a “I can’t wait to get started” mentality.  Coach has been married to his wife Maureen for over 23 years.  He has been blessed with three daughters, Caitlin, Erin, and Delaney, who are the light of his life.  And in a different category altogether,  believe it or not, David has even bowled a “300 Game!”

Smith has been coaching club soccer in Riverside since 2009.  He is currently the President of Riverside MGFM SC. His greatest achievement as a coach is to see the success of his players both at high school and college. “I gain the most joy watching my former players transition into great young adults. I have many players continuing their soccer career in college and it is great to see them enjoy the wonderful experience of playing collegiate soccer” Smith says.

Two of Smith’s three daughters,  Caitlin and Erin, both played at King and his proudest moments were to see the academic success they had while playing high school soccer. They both have continued to play soccer while in college.

“We are members of the Grove Community Church and I have had the honor of volunteering with the Children’s Ministry for the past 14 years” Smith notes. “My goal as coach is to provide a positive learning environment where my players can be educated, encouraged, and inspired to be the best students that they can be. I will stress the importance of character, compassion, and courage at all times.”

Welcome to MLK Coach Smith!  We look forward to working with you.
