The Wolves Aquatics team maintained their focus and consistency this week against the Norco Cougars, taking the meet at each of the four levels by a healthy margin.
With most swimmers taking on their “off” events, best times were still to be had and improvements were still made throughout.
For the girls, Savannah Esqueda, Kaitlynn Mercer and Kristina Peterson, Zana Taylor and Kristin Thoroddsen proved their perfect attendance and work ethic is paying off in the pool with best times and swimming in events that produced more points for the team.
Both varsity teams won every event contested and came close to sweeping all races throughout the meet. With all swimmers producing wins, several stepped in to new events for the season and produced personal bests. Juniors Jaime Hutton, Maddie Stamen and Lauren Vitort for the girls; Blake Dennis, Ethan Kolb for the boys as well seniors Vince Madarang and David Romero all contributed to a successful meet for the Wolves.
Coach Steven Mitchell was pleased with yesterday’s results. “Sometimes it’s expected that swimmers who compete in events that aren’t their strongest will just go through the motions and not race at their best. The meet against Norco proved that our swimmers are wanting to do well despite the competition and do well for their team at all levels.”
The team will take next week off as it heads into Spring Vacation and hosts a Goodwill Fundraiser on Sunday morning from 8-11.
Items can be dropped off at the pool up until Friday and or at the truck in front of the theater on Sunday. For more information visit www.mlkswim.com
