VICTORIA COUNTRY CLUB: King’s golf team entered the Poly High Tournament held at the Victoria Club in Riverside.
The Wolves shot a 419 to finish third of 11 teams.
“We played well, it was a very difficult course” said Coach LeDuc. In fact, all of the scores for all teams were “high”Indicating that it wasn’t just King that struggled at par.
“There were several 5-putts which is nearly unheard of” LeDuc described, “So overall we did well.” The Wolves stayed positive despite the challenge and kept working despite some early frustration.
LeDuc noted that his sophomores really stepped up . “Joel shot an 83 and Ivan shot an 84 which were our number 2 and 3 scores.” LeDuc said.
“We also kept our 6th man score for the first time this year which was important that we can have a strong squad on a day when things don’t go great.”
Sam Butler led King in scoring and finished 6th for the tourney overall. “The contest showed our consistency.” LeDuc said. “We were one of only 3 teams to not have a player go into the 90’s.”
King will play Poly again tomorrow back on the same course.
