Multiple Teams · KING TAKES CROWN AT GARY HOUSTON KICK OFF TOURNEY

EL MONTE:  “Houston, we don’t have a problem” could have been the knock-off cliche to describe the opening launch of the 2016 season for the girls basketball season.

At the Gary Houston Kick Off Classic, hosted by South El Monte High School, the Lady Wolves began their season with outstanding play and a tournament crown.

The tournament consisted of 64 teams and 4 different divisions.  The Lady Wolves entered the tournament in the top division.

After huge wins vs. El Rancho (46-36), Alta Loma (61-52), Arcadia (57-36) and Eagle Rock, the Lady Wolves entered the Championship game vs. St. Paul with a record of 4 and 0.

“The girls came out strong and played a great overall game” Coach Martinez said of the win over St. Paul 66 to 50.

The tournament MVP was Lex Aaron from King; all tournament players from King were Camille Mosley and Haylei Janssens.

The Lady Wolves are now 5 and 0.
