Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · PERSEVERANCE, GRIT ON DISPLAY AGAINST GREAT OAK

TEMECULA:  King senior Emily Wang was matchless as she swept her opponents in the yearly contest against Great Oak High School.  Her dominant play led the way for the King girls to win their seventh match of the year with a score 11-7.

“Great Oak is a tough team”, said Coach Becky Gagnon, “and we were able to maintain momentum throughout the entire match.”

In doubles-play, Simi Desar and Faith Demicco along with Sarah Naameh and Naneeta Desar were sweeping up as well.

While the score showed a fairly dominant win and there were positives to be found throughout the afternoon play, Coach Gagnon acknowledged the skill of the Great Oak players were a challenge that forced the King players to “find a way to win.”

“We didn’t execute as well as we could have, but Great Oak is another high quality non-league opponent we wanted to go up against to prepare for the Big 8 League” Gagnon said.

“Winning is never guaranteed, so the ability to persevere, to fight for a victory is what counts.  In the midst of frustration, learning how to play with your emotions in check and with evident humility, that’s what counts”

All of those great traits were on display Wednesday afternoon in Temecula.
