PASADENA, CA: Nestled in by the historic Rose Bowl, the Southern California Golf Championships were held at Brookside Country Club and Sam Butler of King held his own among the top 50 golfers from four CIF sections — Los Angeles, Southern, San Diego and Central.
Butler finished 41st overall and capped off one of the best seasons in King history. He was only the second player in school history to advance to the prestigious CIF-SCGA Regional that included many of the best high school golfers in the nation. On the 18 hole course, he dropped in four birdies.
Only a junior, Butler will have one year left and will look to repeat as Big 8 Champion and try to lead team to a 5th straight league title.
Coach Kevin LeDuc reflected on the season, “It was an awesome season to have been a part of and getting (an athlete) to this stage was something I have yet to be a part of in my career, so it was a great finish to a great season.”
